Amaal Said’s ‘Notes on Getting Home’ is an experimental video project about connecting to her mother after moving away from home for the first time. Through piecing together archival family footage and new footage, Said questions the distance between a mother and daughter and takes into consideration the weight of familial history, migration and relating to each other, despite being raised worlds apart.
